Desde dónde y cómo se construye la identidad zoque: la visión presente en dos comunidades de Chiapas
Main Article Content
Abstract
In this study, carried out in the communities of San Pablo Huacanó and Copoya, Chiapas, we sought to understand how men and women of these towns feel about what it means to be Zoque. In their origins the two communities are considered to be Zoque, but over time they have lost sight of their identity due to their distinct histories and geographical locations. The language and ancestors linked to their territory form part of the elements voiced in the representations of people to identify themselves as Zoque. In the interior of the communities, language guides the sense of being Zoque, while the territory plays an important role in the cohesion of the inhabitants.
