Abstract

This article postulates the reading of the colonial Barraque literature connected with the Spanish-Creole polemic situation of the 17th century that came from the spanish underestimation of the territory and the rights of the american man. The colonial Barroque literature examined from its conditions of production, reveals the hidden incorporation of the Creole statement, which demands the recognition of both the dignity of the land and the american man. These works show the writers' creativity, who make use of the metropolitan aesthetic model to fulfil their own interests, and make us question the imitative excluding character stated by the traditional critic.
