Abstract

Childhood obesity is now an increasingly serious problem worldwide. Nearly 1 in 5 children is obese. The problem is that children with obesity tend to develop other serious health problems, such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes, in addition to developing anxiety, depression and self-esteem problems. Childhood obesity is a complex public health problem in Mexico, since different factors such as genetics, nutrition, physical exercise and eating patterns are related, many of which are learned or inherited (such as genetics) and persist into adulthood, as well as the diseases that underlie the condition of obesity, without leaving aside other aspects such as social aspects, current in the country, which have an indirect impact on the prevalence of childhood overweight and obesity. For this reason, in this work an approach of these factors and the importance of giving solution to this problem to avoid damages and major problems in future adults is carried out.
