Abstract

In the late 1980’s we observed a profound shift in the political systems of Latin America. The most visible consequences of this changes were the more or less progressive deconstruction of bipartisanship. Through the study of Colombian, Argentinean and Uruguayan cases, the present work shall demonstrate that this shift consisted in a profound realignment of the patterns of representation within party systems.
