La cuestión populista. Una nueva historia conceptual

Resumen

Este artículo intenta aclarar las implicaciones de la calificación de “populismo”, que se ha difundido masivamente en las ciencias sociales contemporáneas. A través de una arqueología del concepto en la ciencia política desde la década de 1980, el artículo señala un doble tropismo epistemológico: el presentismo irreflexivo y el comparatismo salvaje. Ambos están neutralizados por la hipótesis de la naturaleza fundamentalmente lingüística del populismo. Sin embargo, esta hipótesis no resiste el análisis socio-histórico. Comparando las manifestaciones fundadoras del populismo (el narodnitchestvo ruso, el People’s Party en Estados Unidos y los regímenes nacional-populares en América Latina), el artículo propone una nueva definición del populismo que lo distingue de la demagogia, del fascismo y del nacionalismo.

Biografía del autor/a

Federico Tarragoni, Universidad de París

Profesor de sociología y Director del Centro de Investigaciones Interdisciplinarias sobre lo Político (CRIPOLIS) de la Universidad de París. Autor de L’Énigme révolutionnaire (Prairies ordinaires, 2015), Sociologies de l’individu (La Découverte, 2018) y L’esprit démocratique du populisme (La Découverte, 2019). Su obra ha sido recompensada por el Premio Schneider Aguirre Basualdo de la Cancillería de las Universidades de París y por el “Premio del joven sociólogo” de la Asociación Internacional de Sociólogos de Lengua Francesa (AISLF).
