Abstract
Al iniciar el nuevo siglo la realidad vuelve a enfrentarnos a la necesidad práctica de repensar lo insostenible de un sistema económico que pueda crecer de manera ilimitada con base en una dotación finita de recursos, de hecho se observa en los mercados globales un rezago relativo en la oferta de ciertas materias primas y de recursos naturales renovables y no renovables, así como incrementos en sus precios, al mismo tiempo que se constatan procesos de concentración de las fuentes de abastecimiento correspondientes por parte de gobiernos y del capital privado, conscientes de que las existencias disponibles son muy pocas. Este fenómeno lo analizaremos en estas líneas, en especial en lo concerniente a las tierras para la producción de alimentos.
