Abstract
La crisis financiera de 2007-2008 y la posterior recesión económica mundial han creado un renovado interés por la teoría austriaca del ciclo económico. Aunque por razones metodológicas no es posible encontrar demasiados estudios econométricos que analicen las aportaciones de este enfoque teórico, en los últimos años han surgido varios trabajos que han permitido ilustrar aspectos muy relevantes del mismo. En este sentido, el presente trabajo, después de revisar la literatura econométrica sobre el ciclo austriaco, tiene como principal objetivo analizar el comportamiento de la economía estadounidense entre 1988 y 2010 a la luz de las aportaciones de la teoría del ciclo monetario endógeno.
