DEMANDA EFECTIVA Y DISTRIBUCIÓN DEL INGRESO EN LA EVOLUCIÓN RECIENTE DE LA ECONOMÍA MEXICANA

Abstract
Durante los últimos tres decenios, el desempeño de la economía mexicana ha sido decepcionante, y el objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar de forma empírica la evolución económica del país a partir de mediados de los años de 1980, basando el análisis en el principio de demanda efectiva como marco teórico. Los autores utilizan procedimientos econométricos modernos para probar algunas hipótesis, especialmente con respecto al papel que desempeñan las políticas macroeconómicas —especialmente las fiscales y las monetarias— y la distribución del ingreso en la evolución del producto en el país. Nuestro estudio muestra que el débil crecimiento de México, se debió ante todo a la restricción fiscal y la política monetaria, junto con el deterioro de la participación de los salarios en el producto. Aunque las condiciones de la oferta y de la acumulación de capital evolucionaron también con un ritmo más bien lento, el insuficiente crecimiento de la demanda efectiva, y no la oferta, fue la verdadera limitante en el periodo en observación.
