Abstract

Key pecking by pigeons was maintained by concurrent Variable interval Variable interval schedules of reinforcement, under several values of minimum interchangeover interval. When the minimum interdhangeover interval was signalled, relative response rate associated with the schedule providing higher frequency of reinforcement decreased with increases in that minimum interval, for two out of three birds. When the minimum interchangeover interval was unsignalled, relative rates of responding tended to match relative rates of reinforcement as that minimum interval was increased. also for two out of three birds.
