Abstract

The contemporary state of behavior theory is analyzed, and its developrnent ¡5 traced te theories and paradigms for the study of behavior proposed by philosophers and scientists such as Descartes, Sechenov, Pavlov, Darwin and Ebbinghaus among others. It is suggested that the conternporary state of behavior theory is an unstable ene, and it cannot be expected te continue that way indefinitely. lts state it not the prepromotional sort that anticipates simple adjustment in a scientific theory . Rather, it is a transition from iong-established concepts and assumptions and dogmas te others that are certain te be radicaliy different. 1 wili demand sorne difficult and painful shifts in our resistant habits of thought about behavior, in the forrn and content of our behavior theorj es.
