Abstract

This article explains how a political myth is created with the help of narratives and imagery about events, persons and ideas that become factors determining the orientation of political behavior. Its basic components, the symbolic politics and the collective memory, become the basis of constancy and stability of a community through the cohesion and a feeling of adherence to political groups. Under this perspective, the author approaches on one hand, the emergence and break-down of the former Democratic Republic of German and, on the other hand, the correlation between the political myth of the communist German and the anti-fascist resistance.
