Abstract

Entrance fees and tuition in the UNAM have been cause for student movements each time an increase is tried. Considering whether fees in public universities is constitutional or not, has been a central point of controversy in the last few years. Going against those who argue the UNAM and public higher-learning institutions in general- should not be free of charge, the author tries to demonstrate they should be. In addition, this subject has to do with the concept of the autonomy of the National University wer since the years following the Mexican Revolution of 1910.
