Abstract

In nowdays Mexico there are not conditions for a real political democracy basically because there is no respect for law. This situation is the result of various matters: the subordination of the legislative and judicial powers to the executive; the presence of a state party that takes advantage of the government’s support turning unequal the electoral competence. In this same regard many of the social organizations tend to rely on either the government or its party. The above practices not necessarily define a dictatorial or totalitarian type of system but rather an authoritarian regime that hinders the transition to democracy because the power relations are conducted on a vertical way, in which the president appears to be at the top as the mainstay of the national political life.
