Abstract

This article looks at the role played by Mexico as a recipient country for Official Development Assistance during the period between 1960 and 2005. Although Mexico has benefit from a constant flow of Official Development Assistance since the 1960’s, figures show that this amount is marginal to the overall Gross Domestic Product. The article also takes into account the kind of assistance received and from whom it was delivered. Even if the amount of assistance might not be significant compare to other external fluxes getting into the country, such as remittances and foreign direct investments, the flow of Official Development Assistance has been constant along the decades. Major donors are multilateral banks such as the World Bank, the Interamerican Development Bank and Development Assistance Committee members like United States, Japan, Spain, France, Germany, together with other countries not belonging to this entity and some international foundations.
