Abstract

A NEW SPECIES OF CAROLINENSES (TRAVASSOS, 1937) DURETTE - DESSET, 1983; PARASITE OF PEROMYSCUS DIFFICILIS (RODENTIA: CRICETIDAE) FROM HUEHUETLA, HIDALGO, MEXICO IS DESCRIBED. THE NEW SPECIES DIFFERS FROM ALL OTHER SPECIES IN THE GENUS BY THE ARRANGEMENT OF THE BURSAL RAYS, AS WELL AS IN THE NUMBER AND ARRANGEMENT OF THE RIDGES (14) IN THE SYNLOPHE. A KEY TO THE AMERICAN SPECIES IS PROVIDED.
