This issue 31 of Academia XXII maintains the three main sections of its Third Era: Dossier, Research Articles, and Technical Reports, whose contributions are peer-reviewed under a double-blind process. Likewise, Documenta, focused on the publication of archival material, also continues in this issue. The issue closes with two general interest sections: Espacio CIAUP and Posgrado.
The Dossier is titled “Enclosed: Ancient America’s Collective Spaces”, and establishes a dialogue with the call for papers for issue 32: “Coexistent: Archaeological and Historical Sites in Urban Contexts.” Enclosed offers a complex reading of the tectonics of the physical environment and the spatial organization of collective spaces in various Mesoamerican cultures. The texts included in this section outline shared principles for recognizing our ancestral cultures. Reflecting on the role of geometric enclosures in the planning of collective spaces strengthens the historical and heritage legacy that endures to this day.
