An analysis of the movement of the human body during hip-modality ulama –a pre-hispanic ball game– is presented. The study is from two simultaneously recorded views of a player striking the rubber ball with the hip during game situations. The different strike types can be grouped in three basic technical elements. Two are “upper” strikes: one being with the feet on the ground and the other being a mid-jump strike. The third type are the “lower” strikes, which happen at ground level. The angular displacement of the trunk and its relation to a superior member and to an inferior member is reported. In addition the behavior of the mass center is also reported. For the angular displacement calculation and the location center of mass, an inertial model of 14 corporal segments is used..Downloads
