Análisis e interpretación de una urna funeraria del Templo de Ehécatl-Quetzalcóatl en Texcoco

Abstract

This work presents an analysis and interpretation of the skeletal remains of a cremated individual found in the interior of a funerary urn, located in the Temple of Ehécatl-Quetzalcóatl (god of wind) during the Juárez-Arteaga archaeological rescue in the center of Texcoco, carried out during the months of february and april of 2003. The results of the osteological analysis indicate that the remains correspond to an individual whose cremation was incomplete, and which present shrinkage, distortion, transversal fissures and irregular longitudinal fragmentation in the bones, indicating the probability of exposure to fire with soft tissue. The analysis of the ethno-historical information provides elements for inferring that the individual may have belonged to a high social status.
