Abstract

In this article the reader will find concepts related to transgender people way of life, as well as the terminology used in the topic, explaining the differences between transsexuals, transvestites, drag-queens. It is also commented the similarity between heterosexual and transsexuals women’s brains, as well as between transsexuals and heterosexuals men’s. Finally, it is explained the concept of self as a biological and cultural construction, dissociated in the transsexual individual, which takes this person to look for coherence between how he/she is perceived and how he/she really is, a quest that should be supported and stimulated by their family and social group.
