Abstract

One of the industries with the greatest environmental impact is the textile industry, partly caused by the improper management of solid and liquid waste. With constant modernization, smart systems have been developed to monitor the productive processes of the textile industry throughout its life cycle. The present study aimed to identify the main digital tools that have been tested and could address the current socio-environmental problems caused by the incorrect disposal of textile solid waste in Mexico. A qualitative methodology was employed, focusing on retrieving and analyzing articles from the ScienceDirect database to identify various technological options used in the textile sector. As a result, the application of internet of things and blockchain has allowed for the traceability of this type of textile waste through the creation of intelligent systems for collection and optimization of raw materials. In conclusion, the digitization of two essential processes within the Mexican textile sector (production and collection) is crucial for both users and organizations, as it enables them to create management and utilization actions for textile waste, ultimately ensuring socio-environmental benefits along with legal compliance.
