Abstract
The phenomenon of immigration in Chile has been fostered in recent times, both in political debates and in academic discussions regarding the approach of its dimensions and meanings. In the most situated space in social science, many have been reflecting on the different orders that make possible its study: delimitation of who they are, understanding their motivations, description of their practices, unveiling of contradictions, characterization of their trajectories and the channeling of their sufferings. Framed within this debate, it is proposed to place the migratory issue in two very specific aspects: this would be within the field of education and in a border space. More specifically, a sociological reflection is expected on what the interaction between the children of the immigrant and the Chilean children means in schools of the border city of Arica, in northern Chile. The sociological corresponds then to a process of working for the integration of everyday life, but understood in the structuring of the habitus of the children of the immigrants and the Chilean children within a context of existence of cross-border life that considers different elements on contemporary migration in Chile
