The marxist feminism and the classical Sociology
Main Article Content
Abstract
The articulation of a critical narrative of capitalist modernity is one of the featuresshared by every one of sociology’s founding theoretical perspectives. Marxism’s interpellation constitutes the most radical expression of this branch of classic sociology. Something peculiar about the intellectual niche that lead this branch betweenthe late 19th and early 20th centuries is the notorious presence of women in theheart of the movement, of whom Rosa Luxemburg is the most well-known personality. This article revisits Luxemburg’s oeuvre with a different emphasis than that whichoften guides its usual readings: the criticism of male oppression that is inherent tocapitalism. For this purpose, the reading of Luxemburg in this article is joined by oneof Clara Zetkin, who was her main conversation partner when reflecting on the problems associated to oppression and the alternatives for proletarian women.
