Abstract

In this article we propose a critique in a feminist key to the diagnosis of modernity elaborated by the classic men of the sociological discipline. We start from the feminist point of view as an epistemological foundation that defends the idea that all knowledgeas a social practice is located, and therefore, there are more reliable positions tanothers for the construction of knowledge, in this case, the position of women. As anexample and ideal type of masculinization of the discipline since its foundation, we Will take the case of the sociologist Marianne Schnitger (1870-1954), to unravel the author’sagreements and differences with her male contemporaries. The analysis is elaborated, not only through the subjects with which the classics have built such a diagnosis butalso by questioning their theoretical-methodological assumptions and giving rise towhat we call the schnitgerian methodology. In this way, we seek to observe the author’sspecificity in front of other sociologists of her time and highlight the feminine and feminist view of the social problems that were common to them.
