Integration knowledge and environment: a contingent approach of intelligent organizations

Abstract
This article is theoretical in nature, in which a review of the Contingency Theory is carried out, framed in Organizational Studies. Two contingent factors of the organization are studied, namely, knowledge and the environment, whose relationship generates the ideal setting for the development of the organization in the knowledge society. The methodology used for the research work was a descriptive qualitative approach, through a documentary analysis of the postulates of the Contingency Theory, from its main exponents, together with the foundations of intelligent organizations. It was concluded tha Contingency Theory accounts for the link between the organization and the environment and reveals that the best form of organization in the knowledge society is intelligent organization, being organic, flexible, innovative and adaptive, the product of management of knowledge management as the main asset. The intelligent organization develops organizational learning to maintain the fit between its performance and the environment, learning and unlearning from the surrounding realities and avoiding inconsistencies with its models and designs.
