Abstract

The contradictions created in latinamerican countries as a result of neoliberalism are summed up by the problems faced in Chiapas. The elements the author handles to analyze and evaluate the roots of the conflict, establishing the way in which the problems faced in the past entangle with those faced in the present date, defining the social forces in conflict and the political project which they fight for, demonstrating the ways in which the natives and peasants try to achieve their purposes, and the causes of attrition and frustration that lead the various communities to opt for armed struggle. Understanding these issues for all latinoamericans.
