Abstract

The present article covers the transition of Latin American theory from the 1950s. It also looks into the development theory proposed by the CEPAL, the dependency theory and postmodern views. At the same time, the author exposes the existence of other sub-theories within dependency, the rupture with respect to CEPAL's paradigm, as well as the retreat of the critical view in the 1980's. Finally, it explains how important it is bring back Latin American social Thought, and to continue the process of creating a theory for region and by Latin America scholars.
