Towards a new security agenda for the Caribbean in the post-Cold War?

Abstract

The new geoestrategical dimensión presented by the Caribbean for the United States at the Cold PostWar is analized in this article by its author. Worry about geopolitical accelerated changes at international level since 1989, the American strategies have not accomplish or elaborate a new security agenda for the Caribbean, with the specificity and the importance it had before. However, the author considers perhaps from several discourses and documents it is possible to reconstruct what shall be considered a security agenda for the region, which will rest in five axis: the promotion for democracy, the migratory policy, free market and integration, the narco traffic struggle and the environment protection. Each axis is analized largely in this article.
