Abstract

This article defines the different approaches regarding indigenous autonomy, which has been recently articulated in contemporary Mexico: It suggests the argument that the model of Nation State is undergoing a transformation process from a “mestizo” to multiculturalism and from this to Autonomic States. This paper also analyzes the main issues related to the EZLN, which, undoubtedly, comes from a broader indigenous movement in Mexico.
