The contradictions of neoliberalism in the process of building political culture : the Brazilian case

Abstract
The last decade in Latin America has been characterized by the institutionalization of neoliberal governments. The expectations of the people were of significant improvements in the social and economic sphere. However, the results have been far form improving the quality of life. At the present, it is observed an expansion of poverty in these countries. This paper examines the influence of neoliberal reforms in the attitude formation process regarding democracy in Latin America, and in the particularly Brazilian case, the implications of the neoliberal model in the citizenship construction.
