The risks of job insecurity and labor reform in Mexico

Abstract

This essay postulates two hypotheses. First, the globalization process and the capitalist neoliberal model tend to prescribe labor policies sustained on increasing the labor market and creating under employed jobs. The second hypothesis upholds that the status quo on labor laws in Mexico must stay the same because of strategic and political reasons. At least, until the working class, unions, the deprived and exploited sectors, find a feasible and a right way to become authentic historical subjects, who before engaging in the process of labor reforms, are able to make economic, social and labor changes. They must be capable to stand and protect their own interests, as well as their contractual and constitutional rights.
