The new paths of integration in Latin America

Abstract

This essay has two sections. On the first one it does a brief introduction of the present economic, political and cultural situation in Latin America. Changes on these issues have been integrally bound up to the recent globalization process, which have determined changes in the region and new orientations towards integration. On the second one, it offers some innovative ideas about regional integration. This must contemplate and incorporate the conceptual and theoretical changes, the weakening af the humanistic developmental approach, as well as the so called social transformations and the regional integration process going on recently because of the globalizing process. Likewise, the author proposes new ways to build knowledge as far as integration and the new orientation that enhances the intellectual possibilities and practice.
