Abstract

From Max Weber's Protestant Ethic and The Capitalist Spirit, we develop three topics in order to make a critical Protestant analysis of this work. These topics are: a) The existence of a deterministic capitalist ethic, centered on Northern European beliefs, which subordinates the rest; b) The spirit of the entrepreneurial capitalist, whose organizational rationality on industrial work stands against the logic of speculative capitalism, and c) The capacity of social subjects to think differently about themselves living within a capitalist system, or against it.
