Abstract

The correct “use” of tite number of tite article was studied witit titree prescitolar citildren. First an evaluation of tite operant ¡cccl of tite use of numberof tite articles was applied, wititout using eititer prompts flor reinforcement. In tite experimental pitases only prompts for tacts and single delayed tact were employed, and generali.zation to plural tact and plural delayed tacts was assessed. As a result of this manipulation, ¡cccl of performance increased from a zero % itt tite baseline, to a 100% for ah responses Sn tite experimental pitases. .Results are analysed itt terms of tite effect of pro mpts and sts relation witit acquisition andmaintenance ofafitted grammatical behavsor.
