Abstract

The definition of political communication field depends on the general position adopted on communication. This paper discusses three possibilities of a conceptual definition of political communication based on Sfez’s communication metaphors proposal: mechanic political communication, organic political communication and tautological political communication. At last, there is a reflection about the consequences that such definitions have for public opinion studies.

Eduardo Julián López Espinosa, Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales, UNAM

Student ninth semester degree in Communication Sciences within the terminal option Political Communication by the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Assistant professor in the subjects of Introduction to the Study of Science and Processing and Information Analysis, part of the Center for Studies in Science Communication FCPyS. Creditor to recognize academic excellence for eight consecutive semesters of degree. Collaborating in the writing of the book The Mexican neopresidencialismo and Enrique Peña Nieto, Enrique Olivares (Mexico, Plaza y Valdés, 2011). He is currently coordinator and participant of the research project communication and social change, a prospective analysis of communication trends in Mexico, working on her thesis the data to the message.
