Abstract

Among the main newspaper in the United States only the Boston Globe has no reported a decline on their sales. Less than a third of the women between 18 and 34 read newspapers. Civic Journalism is an answer to reduce the gap between massive news and the public.

Author Biography

Edward M. Fouhy, Pew Center on the States of the Pew Center for Civic Journalism, USA

Master and Doctor from the University of Boston. He was a reporter, producer and news executive for over 25 years and started as a producer at CBS News in 1996. He has won five national Emmys and the Drew Pearson Award for investigative reporting.
His articles have been published in The New York Times and American Journalism Reviews, among others. He was founding director of the Pew Center for Civic Journalism, and is currently executive director of the Pew Center on the States, an initiative of the Pew Charitable Trusts of Philadephia, where he was responsible for reporting the different innovations in public policy issues in each state.
At the same time he was director of the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX), a nonprofit organization with more than 40 programs of independent media in more than 50 countries. efouhy@stateline.org
