Author Biography

Lucio Mendieta y Núñez, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México

Born in Mexico City in 1895. He died in 1988. He received his doctorate in law in 1950 from the Facultad de Derecho of the UNAM. He was head of the Department of Population, Department of Anthropology of the Ministry of Agriculture in 1921; head of the Institute for Social Research at the SAG in 1934; director of the Institute of Political, Economic and Social Studies PNR in 1935; director of the Institute for Social Research at the UNAM from 1939 to 1966. He taught agricultural law and sociology at UNAM, and the Technological Institute of Mexico. Along with Luis Garrido, he founded the School of Political and Social Sciences of the UNAM. He published, among other works: The land problem in Mexico, and agricultural policy; The precolonial law, economic and social value of indigenous peoples of Mexico, Indian Economy, Social classes, political parties, sociological essay on the university Revolution Theory, Sociology of Art and The endless caravan (stories and parables ).
