Reflections around the political cartoon in Mexico

Abstract

The political cartoon registers in the inheritance of a rich and important graphical tradition, demonstrating that the images can be a powerful political weapon. Often a cartoon says more than thousand words. In Mexico it has been used by progressive groups as much as reactionary.

Fernando Ayala Blanco, Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales, UNAM

Doctor of Political and Social Sciences, Master in Political and Social Studies and a Bachelor in Political Science and Public Administration from the UNAM, was born in Mexico City. He is currently a research professor in the career of Political Science and Urban Management at the Universidad Autonóma de la Ciudad de México (UACM), campus Casa Libertad, and subject teacher at the Center for Studies in Public Administration from the Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). His research interests includes globalization, change processes, governance, transition lexicon of politics, political economy, economic policy and political philosophy. ayala80@hotmail.com
