Author Biography

Gabriel Thoveron, Universidad de Lieja, Bélgica.

Although Breton origin, Gabriel Thoveron born in Liege, Belgium. He died in 2007. He graduated in Social Sciences at the University of Liege in 1957, and soon joined the Free University of Brussels (ULB), where he majored in Journalism in 1962, always in collaboration with the Center for the Study of Techniques Broadcasting the Institute of Sociology.
Then became a researcher of this center and presented his doctoral thesis in 1971. He became director of the Center and Secretary General of the Institute of Sociology from 1980 to 1992. Since 1969 he dictated the main course section "Sociology of media communication","the public media "and" the opinion and the media".
Specialist Media and Sociology professor emeritus ULB, which ceased to be a teacher since 1996, where he continued to exercise a critical view of performance, developments and trends in the media.
He was also a visiting professor at the University of Montreal and in charge of education in the Institutes of Political Studies in Paris and Lille. He left a rich literature devoted to journalism, media and communication. Thus, he authored, among many works, A century of political advertisements in French-speaking Belgium, written Heinderyck François Xavier Mabille, and edited by Cefal; Histoire des averages; La politique aujourd'hui Communication, Culture & communication published by Series Sox.
