Abstract

The author classifies good and bad aspects of the presidential election of July 2, 2006: quality of the voter registry; anticipation of a “closed” election; more or less balanced media follow-up  of three leading contenders; biased opinions of the newscasters against CPBT, estimated expense on TV adds; IFE´s incursion on “estimation” exercises instead of outsourcing as in previous elections; use by political parties of legal channels to challenge results; and the non acceptance of the CPBT of the final official presidential election result.
