Abstract

The mass media acquire an increasing influence on the preservation and promotion of the health of the population, since through audiovisual and written propaganda it is possible to create awareness of the existence of multiple problems that directly or indirectly affect health, for example, environmental pollution in urban areas, unsafe working conditions; Furthermore, they can contribute to developing specific practices, such as adopting hygienic measures in food handling, preventing various diseases and educating the population in the proper and timely use of medical services, etc.

Author Biography

Raúl Rojas Soriano, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM)

Doctor in sociology and professor-researcher at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (unam). He has been invited by more than one hundred Mexican and foreign universities, as well as by other academic institutions, government agencies, municipalities, hospitals, national health institutes, jails, unions, international book fairs, forums in which he has given more than a thousand conferences. He has written 30 books on research methodology, education and health (of these, five are co-authored), among which are Investigación-Acción en Facebook. Aspectos humanos en una comunidad virtual (2017); Capitalismo y enfermedad (1983), although it has already been published four more times, and Sociología médica (1983), with three more editions.
