Descending auction of jobs. Effect of equal access to higher education in the determination of wages to professionals

Abstract
This paper analyzes the combined impact of universal higher education and the efficiency of educational outcomes (as goals to get equal access to higher education) on wage determination for graduates with higher education. For the purpose of this study, a descending auction model is used to show that expanding coverage rates and higher education completion rates, without ensuring quality and relevance of the curriculum and without generating enough jobs, adversely affects the results expected for having a higher education degree, when “everybody” has one.
