Entender el país a partir de la geografía

Abstract

Geography is crucial to understand Mexico. This science and its subdisciplines enrich our knowledge, and contribute to regain our national and regional identities. Geography has been absent from middle and high school education, and that is worrisome, as this prevents students from knowing their country. According to Dr. José Omar Moncada Maya, head of the Geography Institute at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), at this university knowledge of the country is produced, and it can influence decision makers. Students should commit to their career, and benefit from everything that the UNAM offers.
