Abstract

According to Hegel, the spirit is shaped through individuals’ activity. The hero or the great statesperson represent others’ concerns and are aware of the germs of the new. They have the ability to act and transform ages because they feel human needs and lacks. But they only apprehend the essential to transcend present times. The philosopher doesn’t change the world. He just observes and understands it. Men act without knowing what they do, and the philosopher knows, but doesn’t act. For Hegel, each historical period contains rationality, and it is the essential to shape Reason. The isolated consciousness exists solely among other individuals’ consciousnesses.
