Abstract

A biology teacher should have an ethical code, because he conveys knowledge and educates pupils. A genuinely biological ethics must consider cultural human evolution and the genetic program. These will make it consistent. As the teacher frequently indoctrinates morals and values in the classroom, any of his/her moral judgments must be supported by good reasons. Besides, he/she must promote communication and tolerance, and examine everything rationally. Some of his/her rules of behavior could be: responsibility, updating his/her knowledge, clear and simple explanations to students, honesty towards pupils and colleagues, and regarding teaching as a purely humanistic and social professional act.
