Abstract
This paper addresses the importance of the short story as a teaching aid to social sciences. Throughout the text, the educational qualities of the short story for the social sciences are raised since it becomes reading material. Thus, this literary genre is an aid for the learning process, because it helps to understand human experiences and historical events, and it provides as well scenarios (situations) that promote the ability to generate ideas, communicate, and enrich them with other persons’ points of view.
