Abstract
This article has the main objective to describe and analyze recent social construction of claim and right to the city in the City of Mexico as a right pointing to the need for a city to a dignified life for its inhabitants. The right to the city involves the strengthening of democratic citizenship through knowledge and exercise of rights and fulfillment of obligations, hence it is suggested that the Charter of the City of Mexico for the Right to the City (2010), -as a political tool- may contribute pedagogically to young people know their rights and to build an educating city.
