Abstract

This text includes a set of reflections on the ethical commitment that exists to socialize the knowledge generated through research processes. A dialogue is proposed on the difference between socializing knowledge with institutional decision makers and doing it with people who allow research to be carried out. A reading of research that underlines its critical nature is presented as a way for clarifying the scope of its findings and, at the same time, for reviewing the assumptions that guide the studies. The field of reproductive behaviors was selected to exemplify a space of knowledge permeated by gender assumptions, both in the construction of disciplinary categories and concepts, and in their implementation by institutions in charge of defining public policies and social programs. Therefore, a critical socialization of knowledge with the people studied is proposed, both to qualify and enrich its scope, as well as to diversify the population that has access to it. We conclude by reflecting on the possibilities of a reflective socialization of knowledge, in contrast to a directive interpretation that assumes that the meaning of expected changes in the behaviors studied can be defined in advance.
