Abstract

The following pages are just a first approach to the issue of public health and the pathology of the Mexican capital in the second half of the nineteenth century. It is an attempt to collect data, spinning themes, figures and criticism about a social phenomenon that is so broad and requires a thorough analysis. So the purpose of this brief essay is to build a picture about the physical and social conditions of the Federal District to understand the pathological geography of the population of the nineteenth century. In addition to an initial analysis of the use of statistics and their benefit to medicine and health planning and public health. Work with figures and data collected from the mortality statistics in Mexico City in the years 1845, 1852, 1858, 1859, 1866, 1867, 1870 and 1871.
