Abstract

Cognitive neuropsychology obtains fundamental knowledge about the functioning of human mind from studies with cerebral injuryed patients. The principal method used by this discipline to extract conclusions on the cognitive normal functioning is the comparison between the description of emerging patterns in cognitive intact and impared skills across cases of study. In the present article we analyze, from a neuropsychological frame, a patient who presents a specific substantive anomie. We used the Spanish version of the aphasic deficit group of tests (Miceli, Laudanna and Burani, 2000) to explore the patient's language. The obtained scores analysis in the denomination scales (oral and written) of actions (verbs) and substantive (objects) showed the existence of a simple dissociation between these tasks. This performance pattern can be analyzed as a specific category of grammar deficit. We consider that the obtained results provide relevant information in favour of the hypothesis that proposes that lexical system could be organized by grammar categories.
