Abstract

The present work has as objective identifing the beliefs regarding their corporal image and the acceptance of this image in two women groups of different ages. The acceptance that the women had of its corporal image would indicate the level of self-esteem. To identify the differences since the beliefs of their corporal image a questionnaire of incomplete sentences was designed, that investigated about the perception and of the current sensation that the women had if its body and in the way in the one that they world like that this was. The sample was conformed by 59 women that to got into groups of two, in function of its age. The first group (A) it belonged to 20 women whose ages osciliated between 19 and 40 years. The second group (B) it was integrated by 39 women from 41 to 69 years. The results showed differences between two groups of women regarding the acceptance of their body, a bigger proportion was found (55%) of women that answered showing beliefs that reflected a bigger self-esteem of the corporal image in the first group (women of 20 to 40) in connection with the group of women of more age (14%)
